BioMers is engaged in developing novel polymer composite products for numerous biomedical applications.
The company's first products are the patented translucent arch wires and retainer wires for the aesthetic orthodontic treatment market. Aside from being nearly invisible, the products have the necessary mechanical properties for effective treatment.
Extensive clinical trials have been conducted at two leading U.S. orthodontic schools. Over 300 arch wires were inserted into patients in the initial phase of orthodontic treatment. Results demonstrate comparable tooth movement to other treatment methods. A clinical trial was also completed for the BioMers ASTICS® retainer wire. The retainer performed comparable to other retention methods by retaining teeth in their ideal alignment after treatment.
The intellectual property underlying the BioMers products are protected through patents that have been issued in the major countries of the world. While orthodontics is the immediate application area, dentistry and the medical field are also application targets for this innovative and patented technology.
